this is a review
of the audio CD
of "Lord Loss" |
|
Darren Shan
turns his
attention from
vampires (The
Saga of Darren
Shan) to
werewolves and
demons in his
new series
The Demonata.
The first
book, Lord
Loss is
about as scary
as it gets and
shows the great
imagination of
Darren Shan.
Starting off
with the demonic
slaughter of his
family, by Lord
Loss and his two
horrendous demon
helpers, Grubs
Grady somehow
survives and
after a stint in
a mental
hospital is
rescued by his
uncle, Dervish.
Dervish is an
experienced
demon hunter and
is the only
person who
believes Grubs.
However all does
not go smoothly
as there is
lycanthropy
running through
the family line.
So when a full
moon comes so
does some
unexpected
events. I won’t
say more so the
twist is not
given away.
Suffice to say
Lord Loss soons
makes another
appearance.
This book is an
edge of your
seat type read
and having
someone the
caliber of
Rupert Degas
read it to you
makes the book
even more
enjoyable. He
creates the most
amazing voices
for the
characters and
coupled with the
eerie sound
effects the book
is most creepy
indeed. I found
myself looking
forward to
switching on the
CD player and
immersing myself
in this tale of
horror. I can’t
wait for Book 2:
Demon Thief
and Book 3:
Slawter. I
just hope Rupert
has been asked
to record them
as well.
