• An adult edit

    17 June 2010

Finished my edit of what might be my next book for adults. Very pleased with it. It had been a long time since I last did any work on the book, so I found plenty to tweak and tighten up -- I cut about 10,000 words from it this time round! I'm really pleased with how it's shaping up, a very dark, twisted novel, featuring probably my most interesting (and vile!!) cast of characters to date. Still a lot of way to go with it though -- and there's the other book for adults which I've been editing for the last year as well -- either of them could be my next published work... only time will tell...

To those of you who commented on my last post, about my American tour, asking me to come to your local town or city -- don't comment -- ACT!!! Asking me to come in a comment will get you absolutely nowhere. But you CAN influence the direction of the tour if you follow the advice I gave and try to get a teacher, librarian or bookseller to make contact with my publishers. I've given you guys the opportunity -- now it's up to you whether you make use of it or not...

Finally, the Edinburgh Book Festival today let me announce that I will be appearing at the Festival on Saturday, August 14th, at 1.30pm. For more details, click here: http://www.edbookfest.co.uk/ This will be my 11th year in a row at the festival—I first appeared there in August 2000. I plan to read at least one world-exclusive extract this year, maybe even more!! As usual, I’ll be happy to sign as many of my books as fans bring along, so feel free to bring your entire Darren Shan collection if you wish, but be prepared to stand in line for quite a long time—my queue normally last 3 or 4 hours up there!!!
