• Birthday thanks

    03 July 2021

Now, I don't want it to look like I'm milking my birthday for all it's worth, but I felt compelled to post a little follow-up to my birthday blog yesterday, to thank everyone who took the time to wish me a Happy Birthday through Facebook, Twitter and email. I think I got more birthday greetings this year than ever before -- I'm not sure why that was the case, but it made for a very nice treat, though I do have a bit of a sore thumb now after I spent the day hitting LIKE buttons over and over!!! :-)

Along with the individual posts by fans, a user on Twitter called Festival Of The Undead roped in some fellow Shansters from across Discord, Tumblr and Instagram, to sign a virtual card, which was an imaginative touch. I've included a few of the images here.

Mrs Shan and I dropped the kids off to Granny and Grandad in the afternoon, and headed for the Woodlands hotel in Adare in Limerick, where we had very tasty burgers and maybe the biggest feed of chips (French Fries) we'd ever served up, in their outdoor dining area, which they built in response to COVID. The food was tasty, and I highly recommend it if you're in the area and looking for some good, quick grub -- but you might want to think about sharing one box of chips between two people!! :-)

As I said in yesterday's post, I released a new book on Thursday, the fourth in my Archibald Lox series. If you're interested in giving it a go (or if you want to start at the beginning if you're new to the series -- the eBooks of the first three books are currently on sale at a big discount), you can find out all about it in the July issue of my monthly newsletter, where I'm also running a birthday competition, offering a uniquely signed copy of the first Archibald Lox omnibus volume -- click here: https://darrenshan.com/news/shanville-monthly
