• Clonakilty Park Hotel - first photos

    26 June 2022

In the week leading up to Easter, the Shans went on holiday to the Clonakilty Park Hotel. We had a lovely few days there, and here are some snaps taken by Mrs Shan -- plenty more to come!

The hotel packs an awful lot into a very small space, and it even has its own high ropes course! It was just outside our window, so Mrs Shan was able to get some good shots when Dante and I took to the ropes one afternoon. We've been on a few high ropes courses over the last year, and although this was constructed over a far smaller space than the others, it was pretty challenging, and took far more thought and effort than I'd anticipated!

We played Bingo on one of the nights, and won at our first attempt! (They were only small, fun prizes.) It was the first time I'd played Bingo since I was a child -- I used to go with my Mum and Dad -- so it brought back some nice, long-ago memories.

Michael Collins was an Irish revolutionary, soldier and politician, and being from the area, there was a statue of him in Clonakilty town. He was killed in an ambush 100 years ago, by an unknown assassin, and scholars have tried but failed to work out the killer's identity ever since. At last, as you can see in the fourth and final photo, the truth can be revealed!!!
