• Demons for the weekend

    24 April 2021

Let's get this weekend rocking with some demonically delightful fan art! Though the Cirque Du Freak series remains my most popular, there's a lot of love out there for The Demonata too. It was a wild, bloody ride, which provides plenty of material for budding artists to sink their fangs into, and here are three ancredible drawings inspired by those books.

First up, a fan called Emma kits out the three narrators - Bec, Kernel, Grubbs - with pandemic masks that would surely be the hottest tickets in town if we could get them on the shelves of our local supermarkets!!

Emma also drew the second photo, which features Kernel Fleck, a boy who sees panels of light in the air around him. For a long time he thinks he's crazy, but then he starts to realise that the panels are all too real, and there's a very good (if convoluted!) reason why he can see them...

(As an aside, although most readers of my books assume that Darren Shan is the character most closely modeled after myself, in truth, there's probably more of the "real" me in Kernel than in any of my other literary creations.)

Finally, a fan called Catherine captures the beast behind the mask of Grubbs Grady, a monster that's lain dormant throughout his childhood, but is getting ready to roar into action and drag him kicking and screaming into the moonlight...

There are lots more drawings in Volume 2 of the Cirque Du Freak MANGA omnibus, which is on sale NOW!!!! Find out more about it, including where you can buy it, by clicking here: https://darrenshan.com/news/article/cirque-du-freak-manga-volume-2-on-sale-today
