Darren Shan and Steve Leopard... best of friends... most bitter of enemies.

I always saw them as two sides of the same coin. They're both to some extent projected images of myself, examples of how my life might have turned out depending on the paths I ventured down. I think most people are a mix of good and bad, that we nearly all have the capacity to be heroes or villains, depending on a huge variety of factors... depending, I guess, on our DesTiny...

So Darren was me at my most heroic and humblest (if not always my smartest!)... while Steve was a reflection of my darker, more ambitious and selfish self. Between the two, struggling to be more like Darren, fighting hard not to go the sinister, seductive way of Steve, you'll find... ME.

These amazing drawings of the two were done by, in order, Hiro, Lavender, Ozu, and Kanda. Athough the styles differ wildly, I think each of them captured the pair beautifully, and I'm sure that both Steve and Darren would agree too.
