Elves on shelves are causing chaos in the Shan household!!!

For those of you who might not know about the elf on the shelf phenomenon... basically, Santa sends elves out across the world to stay with children in the run-up to Christmas, to keep an eye on them and report back to the North Pole to let their boss know if the kids have been good or bad. (Put like that, it does sound rather ominously Orwellian, doesn't it?!?) The elves remain motionless during the day, but come alive at night and roam about the house while the humans are sleeping, getting into all sorts of odd corners, and up to all kinds of mischief.

Our two elves are called Saucy Minx and Mischa. Saucy has been with us since our son Dante was a nipper, and Mischa joined us three years ago when Gaia hit the scene.

We're staying with my Mum and Dad for a short while, before moving into a temporary house while our home is being restored after the fire that we had a few weeks ago. Yesterday my Mum was relaxing in her TV room, when she was disturbed by furious roars from the bathroom. She hurried down to find Dante "sitting on the throne," red-faced and apoplectic.

"The elves are looking at me!!" he screamed. "I can't go to the toilet while they're LOOKING at me!!!!"

Of course, as everyone knows, humans aren't allowed to touch the elves, as it interferes with their magic, so my Mum had to usher him to the other toilet, where he could do his business in peace and quiet, unobserved by any nosy elves!!!

    :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
