• Father of the Typesetting

    21 September 2023

I finished typsetting the paperback edition of Father Of The Future today, my next Darren Dash book for older readers. Typesetting is when you play around with the text to make sure everything looks neat on the printed page, so that there aren't big gaps between words in certain lines. It's far trickier than you might imagine -- I'm sure the paperbacks of my first few Darren Dash books look horrendous (I keep meaning to go back and typeset them again, but it's finding the time...), but I've learnt a lot over the last several years, and I like to think these days you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference between my typesetting and a professional's. Although I'm sure there are plenty of professionals out there who would disagree me quite passionately!!! :-)

Anyway, although I still have a lot to do with the book, uploading covers and text, tweaking the metadata, etc, today marks the final bit of tinkering that I'll be doing with it. I was still making a few very minor changes, even at this late stage, but after today... no more. I finished the final draft a good while back, but my work on writing the book is now well and truly DONE done.

The book goes on sale on October 18th as an eBook, through Amazon, Apple, Google, Kobo, Nook and lots more, and as a paperback through Amazon. The eBook is available to pre-order (just search for "father of the future darren dash" on your store of choice) and the paperback will go up a bit closer to the release date.
