• Larten Crepsley fan art

    10 August 2020

Of all the fan art I receive, Mr Crepsley remains the character that most of the budding artists focus on, which I guess makes sense, as he's easily the most popular character out of any of my books -- I always cite him as MY favourite character too whenever I'm asked. (Although I usually say jokingly, before giving my real answer, "Why, it has to be Darren Shan, of course!) Even though it's twenty years since we first caught sight of him at the Cirque Du Freak, fans are still finding new ways to draw and present him, as evidenced in the three very different attempts here.

First, drawn by a fan with the user name of EmoNobody, there's a drawing of a very young Larten from Birth Of A Killer --- it might even be a depiction of him when he was still human, before he crossed paths with a creature of the night. (Actually, now that I consider it, I don't get much fan art featuring young Larten, so if any of you want to have a stab at drawing him in a way that hasn't been seen before, you might want to look to the Larten Crepsley Saga for inspiration...)

Next up we have a series of black and white doodles drawn by Dina. Well, she called them doodles, though they look pretty fab to me! Madam Octa thrown in as a bonus extra -- nice!

Finally, a fan called Violeta also went back to the Saga Of Larten Crepsley books (see? I told you it was a good idea!) to draw him aboard the Pearly Tornado, on that doomed cruise into nightmares, murder and blood... oceans and oceans of blood...
