A fan called Martine shared this with me a while back. It's a list of Writing Style Alignments, which aims to place authors in one of nine brackets based on how they plan their work. It's by no mean definitive, but it's quite a fun summation of some of the main ways that authors go about tackling their stories and knocking them into shape.

I've actually written in many different ways over the years, often plotting a book in great detail, but other times working very much off the cuff of a few vague ideas. For the most part I probably fall somewhere between the Lawful Pantser and Lawful Plantser areas of this list, though I've got to be honest, I've no idea what "the flashlight method" might be!!! :-)
