• Lettered Troll selling out

    08 November 2023

The fundraiser to help bring my picture book to life -- The Terrified Troll, which is being illustrated by a talented young artist called Eva Byrne -- is ticking along nicely. There's still loads of time to pre-order your copy of the signed, numbered, limited edition. (A quick reminder here thatr the book's print run will be based on the orders we get for it, so you HAVE TO pre-order it to secure a copy.) There are plenty of PERKS remaining too -- amazing PRINTS that Eva has created especially for the campaign... a handwritten poem (by me!!)... the chance to meet with Darren Shan if you live in Ireland or the UK... and more.

But one perk that is selling out fairly swiftly is the LETTERED EDITION of the book. While the numbered edition will be based on the orders than we get for it (those have already passed the 100 mark), there will be only 26 copies of the lettered edition, lettered A of Z, B of Z, etc.

As I expected, the lettered edition is proving a big draw. We priced it VERY reasonably -- lettered editions of books by established authors usually sell for several hundred euro... even a thousand euro or more. I'm a big book collector, and while I knew we could have set the price for this much higher than we did, I wanted it to be affordable to the vast majroity of my fans.

Only EIGHT copies of the lettered edition remain for sale as I type this, and I'll be very surprised if those don't go within the next few days. So, y'know, if you're THINKING about buying one, my advice is to act on those thoughts sooner rather than later, as once they're gone, I very much doubt you're going to see them pop up for resale very often down the line... and if a copy DOES occasionally pop up, I'm guessing the price will be many multiples of what it costs now...
