• Non-character art

    29 April 2023

Artistic Shansters normally draw characters from my books when they turnb their hand to a bit of Darren Shan-inspired fan art, but sometimes they take a different approach, and here are four such efforts.

The first, by LUKE, is actually an AI generated drawing of the Cirque Du Freak. I've been hearing a lot about AI recently, and how it's going to change much of the world in the very near future. I'm not entirely convinced that it's going to be as wide-sweeping as some are suggesting, but I can certainly see how it's going to impact on a lot of different fields and potentially render redundant a lot of humans in the process. It's going to be a very interesting (slash scary!) process to keep track of...

The second drawing, by LIV, is a masterful recreation of the flyer that sends Darren Shan and Steve Leopard to the Cirque Du Freak in the first place, way back in book 1 of the series.

The third, by JULIAN, is a painting of Mr Tiny's infamous heart-shaped watch. Hmm... I imagine Mr Tiny would find the potential chaos of AI extremely amusing. You don't think HE could be one of the key AI programmers, do you?!? :-)

Finally, NOEL imagines a moment in an alternate timeline where Steve Leopard finds a very poorly concealed entrance to Vampire Mountain!!
