• World Book Day 2022 - more photos

    07 March 2022

Last week I posted some photos of fans who'd dressed up as characters from my books on World Book Day. This is a follow-up post, as a couple of more photos have found their way to me since then.

First, we have Khan, Mr Duncan and Milo, from All Saints Primary School in Sapcotes, who dressed up as Mr Crepsley, the Wolf-Man and Murlough from my Cirque Du Freak books. They look incredible, and I also love how they're holding such a wide selection of my books, including even an Archibald Lox entry -- this is clearly a school where the book-buyers have SHANtastic taste in books!!!

Next up is Jack, who dressed up as that most handsome of Vampire Princes... Darren Shan!! Jack's minimalist approach reminds me of when I've been out and about on Halloweens in the past -- sometimes, if I'm not dressed up in an elaborate costume, people will express surprise that I haven't marked the big occasion -- to which I always wink and reply, "But I HAVE dressed up... as Darren Shan!!!!"

The third photo was actually taken quite a while before World Book Day, but it depicts a pair of students from Upper Wharfedale School, acting out a scene from one of my books -- I think it might be from the prologue of book 2, where Mr Crepsley feeds on a Scout master -- so I felt this was a good time to share it.

The final photos features a return of one of the stars from my previous World Book Day post -- Jorgie, who went as the actual Cirque Du Freak book!! (One of the comments on Facebook pointed out that she has actually gone as a BOOKWORM, eating through a copy of Cirque Du Freak!!) Jorgie's stunning costume caught the eye of the photographers at her local newspaper, The Bolton News, and they framed her as the centerpiece of their World Book Day special edition. Great work, Jorgie -- I'm delighted you achieved such worthy recognition!!!
