Ngamba
island
is a
sanctuary
for
abused
or
kidnapped
orphan
chimpanzees,
in
Uganda.
Bas
and
I
stayed
there
for
a
couple
of
nights
after
we'd
been
to
see
the
gorillas.
The
highlights
of
the
stay
were
two
morning
walks
we
got
to
make
with
the
baby
chimpanzees
--
we
strolled
around
the
island
with
them,
carried
them
on
our
shoulders
and
backs,
tickled
them,
groomed
them
and
let
them
groom
us
in
turn,
etc.
It
was
a
magical,
unforgettable
experience.
We
couldn't
take
any
photos,
because
the
chimpanzees
would
have
snatched
the
camera
from
us
and
made
off
with
it,
but
this
is a
shot
of
me
in
my
uniform
before
we
set
off
on
the
first
morning.
(One
of
the
chimps
urinated
down
my
back
during
the
walk,
so I
needed
a
replacement
uniform
the
next
day!!!!!!) |
