First things first. B is dead. Heart ripped out. B is now the member of the brain-hungry mob.

So, If you have read book one, the one question you screamed at the end of the book was--"B is a WHAT?!?"

Yup. #Facewall. That was one helluva twist.

So, 6 months have passed by, B is being held in an underground complex. The captors won't say a thing. They are human soldiers and scientists. And all they do is feed B gooey stuff and talk about the things that B can and can't do.

Zombies are different. Darren Shan sketches out most of the "How Darren Shan Zombies look like and behave" part in this book. Yes, like Darren Shan Vamps and Darren Shan Demons, Darren Shan Zombies are special and different. Like bones sticking out of the hands rather than long fingernails. Which is pretty coolio.

There are 2 kind of Zombies, and B belongs to the kind who regain their wits after some time but still possess the Zombie abitlities.

The scientists then make B join a few other kids who have regained their wits (revitaliseds), they call themselves as Zom Heads. Rage, a tough guy who is faithful to the scientists, is the leader.

The scientists use the Zom Heads to perform experiments and stuff. Which includes sending them (packing serious heat) into a room filled with the witless Zombies (reviveds) and studying their reactions.

B is in total internal conflict. B relates killing Zombies mercilessly to racism. And our protagonist is trying to fight against the parental influence (which we've seen in book 1)

Darren Shan, like he did in the first book, delicately speaks more on racism and the likes. Much psychology here. This book makes people think about 2 things-

1) What's next? Blood. Blood. Gimme Blood!!

--You'll get it.

but mainly-

2) Racism, have I been practising it? Unknowingly? Am I a racist monster?

--The answer is theirs and if it's a "No", well and good. But if it's a "Yes" Think again, you CAN change. Change Now.

Darren Shan has handled it well. :)

And an antagonist is introduced. The giggling dude (I won't talk about him - It's a treat reading his entry!) And the description really made my skin crawl. Seriously, that's some awesome imagination. But creepiest moment of all was when he opened his mouth! AAAAAAHHH! XD

B makes friends amongst the Zom heads, enemeies too. I like seeing B develop. Friendship, caring for each other and all. Resisting the urge to crack skulls and become a monster.

Then all Z-hell breaks loose. Zom-B goes Underground!!! The giggling dude and his cohorots are a real treat for gore-loving guys like me! :-)

The book ends with a cliffhanger, a very tiny one. That didn't leave me hanging.

This book was not 'as' fast paced as the first one. Though it satisfied my hunger ("Gimme Brains!") it left me puzzled too, questions like who were the people who held B captive? That's the reason for the 4 stars. But hey, it's a twelve book series: Let's be patient and I'm sure that Darren Shan'll not disappoint us! :-)

And my hopes have rocketed SKY-HIGH after reading the intro and the party of the Antagonist and Co. The next books are gonna be awesome if he WALKS IN. I Love that guy!! (PS: Hate the stuff that came out of his mouth)

After all's said and done- Let me take my leave and tuck into book 3 - Zom-B City - "Send in the Clown!"
