When I finished this book it took me a long while to try and compose my thoughts on it into a way that made sense. I felt that this book was lacking in the action department in comparison to the others. We see B on her own a lot, wandering through the streets. She has definitely changed as an individual. She used to like being surrounded by people, her gang of human friends in book 1, the gang of revitalised in book 2. Yet now she is very much a lone figure. She really doesn't want to get to close or attached to anyone.

B meets a lot of interesting characters along her journey in the outside world. The journey reminded me a lot of a TV episode. Mainly the first few episodes of season 1 The Walking Dead, where rick is mainly on his own, looking out for himself and learning of how the world has changed. B is very much like this as she discovers how different everything is.

In terms of character development we see a little but not a lot in this book. We see B has become a little more reclusive and isolated. She doesn't want to interact with people or other zombies, wants to be on her own a lot. There was one scene that I thought was quite good where she goes home to her house for a few days. That scene was touching and allowed us insight into some of B's human side.

The plot of the book was really slow. I felt the plot focused a lot on the B's exploration and aimless wandering of the outside world. There was no real action or mystery in the novel as there was in the previous two. The introduction of the clown, Mr Dowling and the religious group were the only real action packed parts for me.

There were not a lot of new characters in the book. I felt that B was pushing away other people from her because she wanted to become isolated. The painter guy , who granted was a little crazy, was a nice guy she could have stayed with and protected but she wanted to leave. I liked the return of "Owl Man" and Mr Dowling, clown man, and hope these characters will be explained more in future. The mutants were also in this book and I liked that we got to see a little more into their role.

Overall this book was a little disappointing . It was not as good as the previous books in my opinion. It left me wanting more, why are the books so short! I plan on picking up the next book soon. (Perfect series for Halloween too!)
