I could only put off Darren Shan for so long. Despite numerous students insisting I read one of his books, I have held off for years. Finally, today, I read Zom-B mostly while my daughter napped! If this book is any indication of his others, I can see why they are so popular. The reading level is fairly low, but the content is fast-paced and actually has some depth. I went in expecting a zombie tale and instead got that, but with a twist of what it would be like to grow up with an extremely racist and abusive father. I am going to have to see where the next two books in the series go with that angle, though the actual zombie attack stuff was pretty descriptive, so if that’s your thing I am pretty sure you’d be continuing the series regardless. ***
