Darren Shan's extraordinary exposé of the demonata continues in possibly his best book yet - Slawter takes on a terrifying journey into similar territory to that explored in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but this is much, much better. When I was a lad I was hooked on occult stories by Dennis Wheatley, and they seemed pretty scary at the time. Looking back, they were tame in comparison with SLAWTER, and this is a book for teenagers! Great descriptions of demons, a terrific story and the characters just get better and better. Another seven volumes of THE DEMONATA, of which BEC was published last year in hardback. This one's a cracker!
